Nike has released the Air VaporMax Plus in a prime winter colorway. The super-stacked low-top sneaker arrives in black with a sleek white midsole that runs through the middle.
It resembles a Double Stuff oreo holding a chunky upper and even chunkier bubble Air sole. A glossy cage is fitted around its form adding a chic detail. Swooshes are run along the tongue into the toe box of the sneaker for those who love logos.

Nike just released its Air VaporMax Plus Retuned Air sneaker in an attention-grabbing new color: bright crimson. The shoe intends to unite the best of two Nike worlds: the plastic-overlayed upper of the popular Air Max Plus, which Nike released in 1998, and the cloud-like, lightweight sole of 2017’s VaporMax.
Visually, the shoe’s effect is akin to watching an old sci-fi movie—the overall aesthetic captures the past’s idea of the future, like the high-tech nostalgia of the original Star Trek Enterprise’s computer system. First, you’ve got the light neoprene upper, with the Air Max Plus’ signature synthetic overlays, which looked futuristic in 1998 and now seem retro. Then there is that bubbly VaporMax sole, designed to provide support and rebound, and billed as the “pinnacle of Nike Air.”
Performance-wise, this is a high-cushion sneaker with running-shoe roots that’s probably better suited to shorter distances or more general use. There are other color options to choose from, but this is the only one that will match the getup you bought for that holiday-themed 5K.
